Why Jeff Cross (Photography) rocks my socks!!

I was very flattered and extremely nervous when I was asked to participate as the model for Jeff Cross’ March 2010 Appeal Cover shoot.

Jeff was great. He and I corresponded via email, text and phone in the weeks leading up to the shoot. I felt like I knew him before I even met him.

I showed up and the hair/makeup artist, Santana, was warm and extremely pleasant to work with. Soon after, Jeff arrived and instantly walked to me and shook my hand. He and Santana started collaborating as they decided exactly what Jeff wanted in the way of hair and makeup.

Jeff some how managed to be the perfect balance of all business and a great, fun person to work with. Taking direction from him was no more painful than a pleasant conversation with a friend.

As we progressed through the shoot I realized everything was flowing in such a fluid, natural manner. Then it hit me…we had been shooting for the better part of 6 hours!!

People look at a picture and think, “Oh, what a beautiful picture!” But they have no idea how much forethought, vision, collaboration, time and effort it takes to create the exceptional artistic images Jeff Cross creates.

I haven’t stopped thinking about the shoot since it happened. I look at it as a wonderful experience and an eye-opener showing me that it takes a lot more than a pretty faces and snapshots with a camera. It takes dedication, trust, vision and most of all teamwork.

That’s why Jeff Cross (Photography) rocks my socks!!

Jeff has the unique ability of making you feel comfortable in front of the camera. He shoots for the natural approach that best suits the individual, no standard poses or forced smiles.

The click of the shutter is only the beginning. Watching him prepare the image for print is like observing a skilled artist placing the final strokes on a masterpiece.

As Jeff’s mother, I have seen his talents develop and evolve into this remarkable gift. The creativity that literally flows through his veins has truly found its place for expression.
